What is the Trinity ?
God, His Word and the Holy Spirit form the only ONE and unique God of the universe. Among Christians it is common to speak of the Trinity: God « the Father» ; the Word of God (that is Jesus Christ, also called the Son of God) and the Spirit of God (called the Holy Spirit).
In the Bible we do not find the word "trinity" but the idea is often very clear in certain passages of the New Testament for example when Jesus Christ is baptized by John the Baptist :
« As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” » (Matthew 3:16-17).
