Who is the Christ?
The angel said to Joseph: "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name JESUS, because he will save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:20-21)
John the Baptist said about Jesus: "I baptise you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and with fire." (Matthew 3:11)
Nathanael said when he first saw Jesus: "Rabbi, you are the son of God; you are the king of Israel." Jesus said: "You believe because I told you I saw you under the figtree. You shall see greater things than that." He then added: "I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man." (John 1:49-51)
What his mother Mary said: "Do whatever he tells you!" (John 2:5)
Jesus said: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." (John 3:16-18)
Jesus said to those Jews who wanted to kill him because he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover the Father judges no-one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honour the Son just as they honour the Father. He who does not honour the Son does not honour the Father, who sent him." (John 5:19-23)
Jesus said to the twelve disciples: "We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fullfilled. He will be turned over to the Gentiles (peoples or nations). They will mock him, and insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him. On the third day he will rise again!" (Luke 18:31-33)
Jesus said: "I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep and my sheep know me - just as the Father knows me and I know the Father- and I lay down my life for the sheep. .... The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life- only to take it up again. No-one takes it from me, but I lay down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father!" (John 10:14,15,17,18)
What do YOU say? Whoever says he believes in Jesus, he should believe Jesus words. If you do not believe the words of Jesus, you do not believe in Him either. That means you will not be saved from your sin and you will not receive grace to live with Him and follow Him, and you will not have eternal life.
